If you are having pain at the chest and left arm, you do not ignore that and say I will wait until my yearly check up to get an EKG. You know that those symptoms indicate a heart attack so you act upon the symptoms. The same can be said if you suddenly have difficulty speaking and one side of your body goes limp. You act upon these symptoms because they indicate a stroke.
The same can be said for the symptom of pain. The body provides very specific indicators to let you know whether the pain is coming from a bone, nerve or muscle. The range of motion of a joint, feeling to see which tissue emits the pain being experienced, muscle testing and flexibility testing can all direct you to the right tissue. The key is knowing how to use all the tools available to get the right diagnosis so the right treatment can be performed to get quick and effective pain resolution.
The MRI and x-rays simply find structural variations that in most cases are independent of the cause of the symptoms. These are variations to the normal presentation of the structures, typically which takes years to develop and is so slow in its progression that a pain signal is not created. The only reason for identifying these structural variations is that the tissue causing the pain is in close proximity to these structures and diagnostic tests taken in the area identifies the structural variations. Simply identifying these structural abnormalities does not mean that they are the cause of the symptoms. Look to the body’s presentation to determine the correct cause. Finding the right cause can lead to quick and effective pain relief while treating the wrong tissue can lead to prolonged and sometimes increased pain.
To find out how to interpret the body’s presentation of symptoms, please purchase my new book, The Pain Cure Rx: The Yass Method Of Diagnosing And Resolving Chronic Pain. It is available for preorder at this time and will be released on June 2, 2015. My PBS special will air June 1-14, 2015
Symptoms Can Tell You Which Tissue Is Emitting Your Pain, Not Diagnostic Tests
