CASE STUDY I: MARCI
Symptoms: Severe pain in left lower back and gluteal region. Severely bent, unable to move.
Initial Diagnosis: Spondylosis of the lumbar spine. Hospitalized; morphine and Vicodin. Little reduction in symptoms.
Mitchell Yass' Diagnosis: Left QL and piriformis were in severe spasm and there was weakness of other pelvic stabilizing muscles.
Mitchell Yass' Treament: Moist heat and massage to the left QL, piriformis and gluteus medius. Stretching and aggressive strengthening exercises.
Result: Patient has regained full functional capacity and normal quality of life.
